CCTV Headquarter’s Building Beijing

China again and again build a new innovation building in their country. It was located in Beijing, Capital city of China.

A structural, geotechnical, security, mechanical, electrical and public health engineering services to architect Rem Koolhaas’ and Ole Scheeren’s design for the 234m high, 450 000m CCTV headquarters.

The total development is 5 813 000ft² (540 000m²) consisting of two main buildings: the CCTV building and the Television Cultural Centre (TVCC).

This first building is not a traditional tower, but a continuous loop of horizontal and vertical sections that establish an urban site rather than point to the sky. The irregular grid on the building’s facades is an expression of the forces travelling throughout its structure.

It would be a significant structural challenge anywhere in the world, but is especially so as Beijing is in a highly seismic zone. Arup carried out a huge amount of work to demonstrate structural stability in order to satisfy local planning needs.

The second building, the TVCC, includes a hotel, a visitor’s centre, a large public theatre, and exhibition spaces. It is visible from the main intersection of the Central Business District through the window of the CCTV headquarters.

Construction of the CCTV Headquarters is now well under way. The site has been excavated, raft foundations laid and the steel work is being installed on site.

A lot of work was done for prescribing criteria for construction, and for monitoring the construction process, with emphasis on measurement of movement. The contractors working methods have to fit within the parameters of the design.

The entire structure and the façade will be completed before the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. We could called it China government’s ambition to make more tourist come to China. Their main value is their shape which was has so unique design.

Stamp Collection

A few years ago, there are some people likes to collected used stamps (Filateli). A hobby which so interesting and could make stamp collector gain a profit. Stamp collecting is the collecting of postage stamps and related objects, such as covers (envelopes or packages with stamps on them). It is one of the world’s most popular hobbies, with estimates of the number of collectors ranging up to 20 million in the United States alone. Collecting stamps wasn’t same with philately which means study of stamp. But as the increasing of email popularity, Stamp collector become fewer and fewer.

No equipment is needed in order to be able to collect stamps. However, the great majority of collectors choose to invest in a few essential items for the better display, preservation and inspection of their stamps. Below are some of the more commonly used pieces of stamp collecting equipment.

The easiest and cheapest method to store stamps is placing them in glassine envelopes and storing them in a box free from humidity, light, and heat. This obviously will be of no help when trying to go through the stamps for display or other purpose. Placing stamps in stamp albums helps in easy display of the stamp collection. Stamps can be displayed as per the wish of the collector, by country, topic, or even size, such that the ultimate display is pleasing to the eyes.

Is there any possibilities for stamp collector to raise his populatrity??

Pandawa lima

Pandawa or Pandava is a word derived from the Sanskrit word; ?????? Pandavah. Literally means the son of “P???u” or Pandu. In the Mah?bh?rata tales, the Pandawas were the protagonists meanwhile the Korawa or Kurawa were the Antagonists with resentful and jealousy attributes.

The Indonesian Mythology focuses on the brothers “Pandawa Lima” (translated to English: The Five Pandawas). They are:

From Goddess Kunti (Dewi Kunti):

  • Bima , Bayusuta, Werkodara
  • Arjuna , Harjuna, Partha, Janaka
  • Yudistira , Puntadewa, Dharmasuta, Dharmaputra, Dharmawangsa, Samiaji

From Goddess Madri (Dewi Madri):

  • Nakula and
  • Sahadewa , Sadewa

According to legend those five children came from the lineage of distinctive gods of the Hindus. They were the personification and the begotten sons of:

  • God of Wisdom and Justice, Yamaraja – father to Yudistira.
  • God of Wind, Bayu – father to Bima.
  • God of Heaven, Indra – father to Arjuna.
  • Twin Gods of Medicine Aswini – father to the twins, Nakula and Sadewa.

The story began with the introduction of the parents of this brotherhood. The antagonist was Duryodana/Duryudana/Druyudana (Duryodhana), or Suyodana/Suyudana who happened to be the eldest brother of all 99 siblings known as the Kurawas. He was the son of the blind King Dretarasta/Destarastra (Dhritarashtra) and Goddess Gandari.

As cousins, the Pandawas and the Kurawas often played together. However, Bima (one of the Pandawas) loved to tease and trick the Kurawas. This led to dissatisfaction and resentfulness of the Kurawas. One day Duryudana started to think about his insecurity and discomfort against the five brothers and plotted to overthrow them from being the Lord of Kuru Dynasty.

The plot began when Dhritarashtra appointed his nephew Yudistira as the crown prince instead of his own son. This caused Duryadana madness and he planned to kill all those five brothers together with their mother Kunti. He offered them to go to a place called Ekacakra – a place set by Duryodhana for them with a huge building in it. His idea was to burn them alive during their slumber at night. Fortunately, the plan was discovered by Widura who was the uncle of the Five Pandawas. In fact, Yudistira had been warned about this plot by a hermit who came to him telling about a disaster that would inflict him in the future. Later the Pandawas fled the place and ran into the woods.

During the flee they five brothers heard about a competition in the Kingdom of Pancala that offered a marriage with a princess named Draupadi as it prize. Arjuna who was a good archer entered the competition and won the princess. He then took her to his mother but his mother asked her to marry all of them instead.

When Dhritarashtra heard that these five brothers did not die in the inferno, he invited them to his kingdom and granted them with the gift of half the lands of his kingdom. They successfully built up a great city call Indraprastha. The resentful Duryodhana returned and planned to build a city even greater than Indraprasta. He also conspired another plot in order to vanquish Yudhistira. He managed to make Yudhistira fell into his trap and was exiled for fourteen years. During this time Yudhistira planned on taking his revenge against this mighty villain, which later led to a huge revolt against Dhritarashtra.
